Your Swedish Island: With most islands in the world, Sweden offers five to travellers
On February 17, 2026, Visit Sweden launched the global campaign Your Swedish Island, offering international travellers the chance to win their own Swedish island for a year. The campaign builds on a growing demand for seclusion, nature and simplicity - insights that have also shaped previous campaign such as The Swedish Prescription. Its aim is to generate global attention and strengthen awareness of Sweden as an attractive and sustainable destination, where nature, culture and lifestyle contribute to health and wellbeing.
“Sweden has more islands than any other country on Earth, over 267,000 of them. Islands defined by calm, rest, clean air and restorative nature - large or small, set in the sea or emerging from a lake. With a rethinking of what luxury means, Sweden is now offering five of them for adoption - not for sale, but to visit and care for.”
With campaigns that tend to fall a little outside what one might call 'traditional destination marketing,' we strive to attract attention and make destination Sweden stand out. The goal is to create reach across all relevant media. We intend to attract both journalists and international tour operators, inspiring them to visit Sweden while boosting digital searches for the destination Sweden. The campaigns enhance and support Visit Sweden's other ongoing marketing efforts.

The Swedish Prescription: Sweden, the world’s first travel destination on prescription!
On September 23, 2025, Visit Sweden launched the campaign “The Swedish Prescription.” This initiative highlights Sweden as a unique destination for health and wellbeing, where doctors can prescribe a visit to Sweden as part of treatment.
“Sweden is the first country in the world to be prescribed by doctors. Here, life is rooted in balance, with effortless access to both nature and culture, making Sweden the perfect place to reset your mind and body. Together with Senior Professor Yvonne Forsell, we’ve highlighted science-backed activities that genuinely improve well-being. Welcome to Sweden - a destination of a different nature”.
